The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Daisy is old and lying in a hospital dying. She asks her daughter, she read a diary - the diary of an old friend. And so Caroline learns the story of Benjamin Button, which is 1918 in New Orleans and exposed immediately afterwards by his father. Mentally and in terms of size it appears like a baby - his physical condition but is similar to an old man. Stunned, the father grabs the baby, which he had promised his dying wife in childbirth, to care for it, and disappears with him at night. Instead of throwing it into the river, but he chooses, to put it on the steps of an old man's home. Queenie finds it there and despite the initial Secrets she decides to care for her. Benjamin we find a home where he can grow up in and loved. More and more immersed Caroline into a story that leads more and more in one direction, with which they did not expect.

The story of Benjamin Button comes from a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald, but which was adapted very freely (place and time were changed, the original amendment was not primarily a love story). A big advantage is certainly the most original idea about the history of a man born old and is getting younger. The beginning of the movie takes way before Benjamin's birth and through a Man whose son died in the war. Instead of a normal station clock so he built a clock that ran backwards to return to the fallen soldiers in the war (of course not true, but you get the idea). This is a great start for a film and especially in this, he misses its effect is not because what he starts, so it will end well.

Daisy is played by Cate Blanchett and is initially only the granddaughter of Benjamin's roommate in the home, his great love. It takes time until they find each other, which is largely due to the prejudices of society, which of course caused by Benjamin's physical condition be. Benjamin is played by Brad Pitt, and that was a good choice. Sometimes he reminds Joe Black, whose role we could also look at Pitt as a discreet childlike naive - a role which he is well tailored to the body such as Johnny Depp's gay pirate. Even the supporting characters do not fade, what a film of this magnitude is not self-evident. The music composed by Alexandre Desplat music underscores the life of Benjamin Button perfectly.

"The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" is a great story about love, society, prejudices, happiness, self-realization, aging - and perhaps a Piece about the fact that you should always keep the child in himself.
